Maintenance of Certification Sessions

The Maintenance of Certification (MOC) session will be held on Friday, June 20th from 1:30pm – 5:00pm.

To demonstrate a public commitment to remain highly skilled and knowledgeable throughout their careers, medical professionals must satisfy the evolving requirements for Board Certification and MOC. The ASE, in collaboration with ABIM, will help physicians meet those certification and recertification needs while earning knowledge points towards ABIM’s Self-Evaluation of Medical Knowledge requirement.

ABIM-certified, expert physicians will join fellow participants to discuss and identify the most appropriate answers to case-based questions. During the session, an audience response system will allow participants to anonymously compare answers to those of the experts and their peers.  Participants will be able to claim 10 ABIM MOC points online after the course.

Member Pricing: $200

Non-Member Pricing:  $300

The Taste of Portland

On June 22nd, 2014, the Willamette Valley Society of Echocardiography (WVSE) will be hosting a social networking event to welcome ASE attendees to the wonderful city of Portland, Oregon.

This event will be held at the Leftbank Annex, which is a raw/industrial yet upscale event space, which previously was a WWII machine shop and located on mass transit routes near the Oregon Convention Center.  The party will feature Portland/NW style hor d’ oeuvres from a caterer well-known for preparing menus from scratch using local ingredients from local farms, ranches and food purveyors.  Several local microbreweries will showcase their “creations” along with a few vintners from the Willamette Valley, well known for its Pinot Noir wines.

Proceeds from this event will be donated to the ASE Foundation for educational scholarships, research grants, and travel grants.  Help raise some money for a good cause all while having a great time networking with colleagues.

Event Pricing: $35.00

Housing Information:

ASE has secured a block of rooms at four convenient hotels, the Embassy Suites Portland- Downtown, The Nines, Hilton Portland Executive Towers and The Westin Portland.  All hotels are conveniently located within walking distance of many restaurants, shopping and popular attractions.  Hopping on the MAX light rail will take you quickly and easily to the convention center.

To make your reservations online, please visit https://aws.passkey.com/g/20637406. To reserve by phone, please call 503-275-9295 or toll free at 877-678-5263 ext. 2 between 8:30 am – 5:00 pm PST, Monday – Friday and reference ASE Attendee Housing.

The room block will be held until May 15, 2014, or until the block is sold out. After this date, reservations will be accepted on a space-available basis. A major credit card number or a check for one night’s room and tax is required to secure each room before a reservation can be processed. Early departures are subject to penalty fees set by the hotel. A charge of first night’s room and tax will be applied or forfeited on non-used reservations if you do not cancel and do not arrive (no-show). Cancellations within 72 hours prior to the day of arrival will be charged a first night’s room and tax. Credit cards will only be charged if cancelled within the penalty period.

Beware of hotel scams.  ASE and Travel Portland have been notified that calls have gone out to attendees reportedly from ASE offering low rates for rooms.  Please be aware this is a scam to secure credit card numbers.  Travel Portland is the official housing department for ASE’s Annual Scientific Sessions.  Neither Travel Portland nor ASE is calling delegates to solicit credit card information.
