Program Overview
Cardiovascular imaging plays an important role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with cardiovascular disease. This symposium was planned in conjunction with three other leading cardiology specialty organizations: the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology (ASNC), the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR) and the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT). These four leading cardiac imaging societies worked together to develop a program which will present a comprehensive, multimodality approach to the evaluation of patients using echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, cardiac computed tomography and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging. Leading national and international experts will participate in this symposium with the opportunity for interaction in panel and audience discussions.
The organizing committee of the 2012 Multimodality Symposium is taking a unique approach by highlighting disease states and discussing the most appropriate imaging modality. Four disease states will be discussed: Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, Diseases of the Pericardium, Coronary Artery Disease and Aortic Diseases. Each session will address the following:
- What is the role of imaging in the diagnosis of the disease state
- When is imaging needed
- How to diagnosis the disease state
- How to use imaging in disease management when appropriate
In addition, the faculty will spend time discussing the challenges and advantages of the various modalities. Special disease states, such as Marfan’s syndrome and diagnosis of aortic atherosclerosis will also be discussed. There will be an opportunity for participants to ask questions of the expert faculty at the end of each session.
Intended Audience
This introductory program was developed for all cardiovascular imaging professionals interested in learning more about Multimodality imaging. Physicians, radiologists, fellows-in-training, technologists and nurses are encouraged to attend.
